Program Philosophy
The Physical Education program at St. Paul's provides a positive, safe and enjoyable environment that engages each child to be actively involved and equally successful through physical movment. Students develop and improve fitness levels through a variety of focused physical activities and fitness testing. The concept of Personal Best is also introduced.
5th Grade
Essential Skills/State Standards:1. Students recognize components of skill-related fitness (agility, balance, coordination, reaction time, speed and power.
2. Students participate in health-related fitness assessments and interpret the results (Fitnessgram, President's Fitness Challenge)
3. Students learn to apply self-control in physical activity settings and differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate behaviors (sportsmanship, cooperation, diversity)
4. Students apply fundamental and specialized skills in game situations with increased proficiency (volleyball, soccer, football, basketball, baseball, track and field)
6th Grade
Course Description: Students are introduced to focused skills in the major sports groups. A variety of fitness and flexibility concepts are introduced.Objectives:
To give students an opportunity to perform at their own level and to give their personal best.
To provide students with life-long knowledge about fitness and movement.

Course Description: Students continue to work towards mastering large motor skills in major sports instruction and develop fitness routines for life.Objectives:
To give students an opportunity to perform at their own level and to give their personal best.
To provide students with life-long knowledge about fitness and movement.
